Huck's

We have been visiting Longleat since the nineties and seen many changes over the years. Hucks has always been a good choice and seated for the lunchtime special which in my view was a reasonable cost for the amount of food delivered. Unfortunately the 6 items on the specials menu were reduced to only 3 as they had no chilli options which was poor considering the size of the menu ? We all ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich but thought the “ shaved “ would be thin and easy to eat. But alas no all 6 came as thicker slices which were difficult to slice with an ordinary knife so asked for steak knifes. Also not asked how the steak was to be cooked ( as we thought it was shaved as advertised) so all were what they classed as medium rare but way too much blood soaking into the bread. As they came covered in cheese sauce you couldn’t see the steak. One was just too bloody so asked the manager could it be cooked more or replaced and was just told that’s the way it was done and he went away. About 15 mins later some free fries appeared and a freshly cooked steak sandwich. So all good in the end. Albeit if they advertise shaved it should be shaved !!

Booked a table here for the evening of Sunday 28th September, before we travelled home. We were shown to our table and our drink order taken. These took quite a long time. I feel like they were short staffed. We ordered our meals - I had a grilled chicken burger with salad (instead of chips), hubby had a beef burger with chips, son (8) had chicken nuggets and daughter (12) had mac'n'cheese. We all enjoyed our meals. My son launched his pot of beans off his plate (by accident) and the staff were swift to clean the mess and grab him a new pot of beans! We ordered our sons chocolate brownie pudding to go, but after 15 minutes, we had to chase this. We then waited a further 5 minutes before it arrived. Overall, a nice enough meal. Staff were friendly. We would book again during our next visit!

We were so close to not coming due to previous reviews but Hucks has always been a firm family favourite over the many years of coming so we chanced it for late lunch - they only open at 4pm on Tues/Weds/Thur (earlier on other days) - and I can honestly say it was superb. It is an American diner, so expect ribs, wings, and burgers but it's delish. The portions were hearty, the 3 course meal for £24.95 was great, and the onion stacks for a fiver each are great value. The service was great, though we were seated as doors opened, and as always, the staff were delightful. Love Michelle, very much appreciated her brief service before returning to her normal station.

Gemma was outstanding! She took the time to get to know us and made sure we were happy with our order. We had lots of questions as I was Gluten-free and she was more than happy to help. The food was great but even better service! Thankyou Gemma!! You’re an asset to Centre Parcs x
